About the event

This session is designed for property managers who may need to navigate the magistrates court system instead of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) due to federal jurisdiction issues, when parties are from different states. We will guide property managers on when to use the magistrates court versus VCAT, covering criteria for this decision and application procedures, including necessary documentation. The session will also address magistrates court protocols, and processes crucial for effective case representation. Strategies for presenting in court, preparing arguments, the role of evidence, and communication with the judge will be discussed, emphasising clarity and professionalism. Finally, we will explain post-order steps, including enforcing court decisions and handling non-compliance. By session's end, property managers will be equipped to manage interstate disputes confidently.
